A university has moneyin its budget to do ONE thing to improve its facilities for students it can either improve the quality of the technology (for example, computers and printers that it provides for students OR it can redesign the spaces where students hold club meetings and gather with friends in their spare time to make these areas more comfortable and appealing.lf you were a student of this university, which idea do you prefer and why?

In my opinion, universities should improve the quality of technology that they provide for students.

Firstly, improving technology enables some students to have access to advanced technological products, which facilitates the process of absorbing new information and acquiring multiple skills. The status quo is that although many students nowadays have their own laptops, some students from impoverished families still cannot afford one, and computers offered by the university are usually out-of-date. In other words, using such slow computers may be the stumbling block to students' academic progress. My friend Demi’s experience can serve as an example.

As I rewind my clock to my college years, my memories unfold with Demi (i.e. a hard-working girl from a not-well-to-do family) struggling to finish her Robotics assignments. In a Robotics class, students are required to use their computers to construct a 3D model with detailed colors and shapes. However, depite her constant effort, Demi always failed to hand in her assignments on time because of the poor network connectivity of the computer provided by the school. Luckily, things began to change last year. Specifically, to increase students' satisfaction, the university upgraded electronic devices by installing some powerful computers that can run multiple programs. Since then, Demi's study efficiency skyrocketed to an all-time high thanks to this advanced and high-speed computer, thereby becoming the straight-A student in our class.

Granted, some people may argue that redesigning spaces where students meet for clubs is beneficial because this, in essence, creates an opportunity for learners to relax and de-stress, escaping their hectic schedules. There is an element of truth in this statement, but we cannot overlook a critical factor: necessity. By that I mean, under most circumstances, when they need to find an ideal venue for parties and meetings, students already have a lot of options such as school libraries, dorm rooms, and student centers, etc.

These designated areas already play an important role and will continue to function well in the near future, though some spaces may not look so attractive or the building's interior is not well-decorated. For example, the living room of a dorm can do duty as a home office. Obviously, an environment does not influence students or club members to a large extent and another fact is that better decorations may not always guarantee a better experience. In this case, the money spent on adorning spaces is relatively not worth it.

In conclusion, it is crystal-clear that universities should improve the technology it provides for students.
